Our founder and Managing Member, Edward Hoffman, Jr., is a Fellow in the College of Community Association Lawyers, a prestigious designation earned by less than 175 attorneys in the United States since it was established in 1993. Fellows of the College are among the most respected community association attorneys in the country for their legal skill and ethical standards. Ed serves in a leadership role as the Chair of CAI’s Pennsylvania Legislative Action Committee and is a member of CAI’s Poconos Mountain Regional Council.
Ed is a prolific author and well-received speaker on community association topics and has been published and presented on community association law and related topics both regionally and nationally, including eleven articles published in CAI’s national magazine, Common Ground, and having previously presented ten times at CAI’s national Community Association Law Seminar. Ed is also the founder and host of the Association Nation Podcast.
Ed has received numerous accolades and awards regionally and nationally, including:

Ed is interviewed on a regular basis for national publications and digital media for his opinion and guidance on community association law topics and has recorded podcasts and webinars for CAI on a regional and national basis.
Ed represents and counsels homeowners associations, condominiums and planned communities on a full range of issues including litigation, governing document drafting, amendments and revisions, transition, covenant enforcement, assessment violations and collections. Ed regularly counsels associations on the proper use of social media, websites, technology and other cutting-edge issues and is a recognized authority on how “tech” issues impact community associations.
Ed possesses a M.S. degree in Environmental Studies, with a Concentration in Environmental Policy and Planning, so Ed fully understands environmental issues which impact community associations including sustainability, conservation, stewardship, land use, open space and preservation, green/organic pesticides/herbicides and resource recovery, as well as emerging environmental technologies such as clean energy, alternative fuels, solar and electric vehicle (EV) issues.
Ed also practices insurance defense litigation exclusively on behalf of community associations to represent and defend associations against general liability and director and officer liability claims.
A graduate of Temple University (B.A.), California State University (M.S.) and Temple University School of Law (J.D.), Ed completed an appellate judicial clerkship with the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
